The rise of Instagram has transformed it into a vast showcase filled with stunning visuals, where creators tirelessly produce captivating content daily. Everything now hinges on one’s ability to fit within the rigid parameters of a reel template, highlighting the pressure to conform to stand out in this crowded digital landscape.

Back in 2011, I sparked an idea that would eventually evolve into a unique magazine, primarily in a website and digital format. I recognised that websites offered an excellent way to index and catalogue a collection, serving as essential tools for organising editorial content in a manner that’s easily accessible to search engines. However, I soon realised that standing out amidst the vast digital landscape posed numerous design challenges.

The magazine concept gave me a creative edge, providing a blank canvas to design compelling content that not only captured attention but also inspired readers to share it with others. There was a thrill in creating something visually striking and engaging that would resonate with an audience.

Models – Evolution

In many respects, the journey toward producing a physical copy of the magazine was an inevitable evolution—just a matter of time. My vision was clear: I aimed to create a magazine that would complement fashion events, serving as a dynamic platform for designers to showcase their work and for models to shine. I am proud to say that this vision materialised into reality, and thus, “Catwalk Diaries” magazine was born—an initiative that successfully bridges the gap between the digital realm and the vibrant world of fashion.

Generating revenue from a magazine is crucial for its survival; this principle holds true across most advertising media. However, this necessity posed a significant challenge from both a professional and a moral standpoint. I understood that without a viable income stream, the existence of the magazine itself would be in jeopardy. The tension between the need for financial support and the integrity of the publication created a complex dilemma, one that weighed heavily on my mind as I navigated the landscape of monetisation.

We respect the sense of community that surrounds the modelling industry, and as an organisation, we aspire to give back to the very industry that has embraced us so warmly. In our efforts to support emerging talent, we are pleased to offer complimentary inclusion in our projects whenever possible. With that in mind, we have carefully structured our pricing to be accessible for entry-level models. For just £300, you can secure a 6-page editorial feature in one of our print magazines, along with a digital version and exposure on our website. We believe this pricing represents a valuable opportunity for models to showcase their work and gain substantial industry exposure.

Designers have capitalised on the visibility provided by printed magazines, with models gracefully displaying their creations under the expert eye of professional photographers. To further support these designers, we have broadened our £300 editorial offer to them as well. If their presence across social media platforms is substantial, we are willing to waive the fee, taking into account the level of exposure generated. This initiative not only highlights their designs but also amplifies their reach in the digital landscape.

Content

As our brands continue to expand and develop, we’ve come to recognise that we’ve organically transformed into a significant source of content within the fashion landscape. While we aspire for our print edition to become widely accessible in the future, it currently exists as an independent publication through a print-on-demand service. In the meantime, we are proud to offer our website and digital formats as complementary resources, reinforcing our commitment to giving back to the vibrant fashion community we cherish.
