Mandy Davies – Interview

After taking a break from the modelling industry, what has been the most significant change in your perspective or approach to your work?

Coming back after a few years away has given me a clearer sense of who I am and what I want my work to reflect. I’m more intentional now.  I choose projects that genuinely align with my style, my energy, and my growth. I’m also much kinder to myself. I don’t chase perfection anymore. I focus on presence, expression, and enjoying the creative process.

TV and Film

Can you share a memorable experience from your time as a supporting artist in TV and film that impacted your modelling career?

Working as a supporting artist taught me the importance of storytelling in the small details. On set, you quickly learn how to read the mood, adapt to direction, and convey emotion without saying a word. That experience helped me bring more depth to my modelling; every pose, every look, every moment in front of the camera can tell a story.

    Travel

How do you incorporate your love for travel and different cultures into your modelling work?

Travel always opens my mind creatively. When I explore new places, I absorb the colours, textures, fashion, and energy. I carry those influences into my shoots, whether it’s through styling, mood, or the way I express myself. Different cultures inspire me to be more versatile, more curious, and more daring.

      Creativity

What inspires your creativity, and how do you maintain your authenticity during a photoshoot?

I’m inspired by people, music, places, and moments that feel real. During a shoot, I stay grounded by connecting to the intention behind the image, what emotion I want to bring, what story I’m telling. I let go of overthinking and trust my instincts. When I’m fully present and comfortable, that’s when the authenticity comes through naturally.

        Music

You mentioned you’re learning to play bass guitar. How does music influence your creative process in modelling?

Music helps me drop into the right mindset. Bass especially has this grounding, rhythmic energy that makes me feel confident and in tune with my body. It’s a reminder to flow, to feel the moment, and to use movement as a form of expression. Just as music shapes a mood, it also shapes how I present myself in front of the camera.

          Collaborations

What types of collaborations are you most excited about as you work to expand your portfolio?

I’m excited about collaborations that blend fashion with storytelling, editorial shoots, lifestyle concepts, beauty campaigns, and creative projects that allow me to express a mood or a message. I love working with photographers and brands who value individuality and want to create something meaningful, not just visually pretty.

            Identity

How do you adapt to different visual styles and concepts while maintaining your unique identity as a model?

For me, it’s about finding the balance between versatility and consistency. I adapt my poses, expression, and energy to match the vision, but I always bring a part of myself to the work, including my presence, confidence, and subtle emotional cues. I think identity is reflected in the way you hold yourself, not just in your styling.

              Photographers

How do you approach building genuine connections with photographers and brands in the industry?

I always show up with respect, professionalism, and openness. I take time to understand their vision, communicate clearly, and bring positive energy to the space. Genuine connections come from collaboration, not ego. I want creatives to feel that I’m invested in the project just as much as they are.

                Mandy Davies – Projects

Can you discuss a project that made you feel particularly fulfilled as a model and why it resonated with you?

One project that really stayed with me was a shoot where I was encouraged to be fully expressive and raw. To also engage in my acting side and pour emotion into the image, it wasn’t about perfection; it was about emotion and vulnerability. That kind of creative freedom reminded me why I love modelling, it’s a space where I can transform, tell stories, and connect with people through images.

                  Creative Partner

What qualities do you look for in a creative partner to ensure a successful collaboration?

I look for communication, vision, and trust. I value people who are passionate about what they do, who respect the process, and who create a comfortable environment where ideas can flow naturally. A great creative partner brings clarity while still allowing room for spontaneity and expression.

                    Mandy Davies – Goals

As you step back into modelling, what are your goals for personal and professional growth in the industry?

My goals are to grow my portfolio with diverse and meaningful work, build strong creative partnerships, and continue developing my confidence and artistic voice. Personally, I want to stay grounded, keep learning, and enjoy the journey rather than rush through it. Professionally, I aim to create images that convey a sense of power, authenticity, and reflection of who I am becoming.

                      Advice

What advice would you give to new models entering the industry?

I would suggest deciding on the area or type of modelling you wish to pursue, or what best suits your look/style. I would then focus on building your portfolio, which is super important to build and showcase. A great way to start is by participating in Time for Print photoshoots, which is beneficial for both you and the photographer in building a portfolio.

                        Mandy Davies – Favourite Quote

                        What’s your favourite quote?

My favourite quote is a Shakespeare quote that says “To thine own self be true”.
