Ife Idunuayo – Discovery
Can you tell us about the moment you first realised you wanted to pursue a career in modelling and fashion?
The moment I truly realised I wanted to pursue modelling and fashion was when I discovered the power of visual storytelling. I saw that fashion is more than just clothing—it expresses identity, mood, and confidence without words. Being in front of the camera let me explore different sides of myself and collaborate creatively with photographers and stylists.
Discipline
As I began to immerse myself more seriously, I became fascinated by the discipline behind modelling: the movement, the attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to a range of concepts. Fashion felt like a space where creativity and professionalism come together, and that harmony deeply resonated with me.
From that turning point, modelling shifted from being a hobby to a true ambition. I set my sights on growing within the industry, embracing continuous learning, and using fashion as a platform for both self-expression and meaningful connection.
Ife Idunuayo – Challenges
What have been some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced as an emerging model, and how have you overcome them?
One of the biggest challenges I’ve encountered as an emerging model is learning the importance of patience and consistency. The fashion industry often appears fast-paced, but true progress demands long-term dedication behind the scenes. Opportunities don’t always arise instantly, so maintaining focus and motivation has been crucial.
Confidence
Another key challenge has been building genuine confidence while remaining open to growth. Early in my journey, I realised that development comes from listening, observing, and constantly refining my craft—whether that means improving my posing, mastering movement, or collaborating more effectively with other creatives.
I’ve overcome these challenges by staying disciplined, seeking out supportive collaborators, and treating every shoot as an opportunity to learn. Each experience has made me more confident, adaptable, and intentional about shaping my career’s direction.
Inspiration
How do you draw inspiration for your work and personal style, both on and off the runway?
My inspiration comes from both everyday life and a wide range of visual culture. Fashion, photography, music, and architecture all shape how I approach my work and personal style. I’m especially drawn to the ways different creatives express mood and identity through details like texture, movement, and silhouette.
Cues
Whether I’m on set or walking the runway, I let the project’s concept guide my energy and expression. I take cues from the styling, environment, and creative direction, then add my own interpretation. Collaboration is key—it shapes the final result and always pushes me creatively.
Outside of work, my personal style is more intuitive. I love to experiment, but I always stay true to myself by balancing comfort with confidence. For me, style is an extension of personality, and I aim to let that shine through in everything I wear and create.
Ife Idunuayo – Projects
Are there particular projects or collaborations that have been especially meaningful to you? Why?
Some of the most meaningful projects I’ve been part of were collaborations built on creativity and trust. Editorial shoots that encouraged experimentation with movement, lighting, and mood stand out to me—they challenged me to discover new forms of expression and step beyond my comfort zone.
I find projects that celebrate individuality and self-expression especially rewarding. Being part of work that values authenticity makes the experience feel truly purposeful, not just visually striking. Those collaborations remind me that fashion is about storytelling and connection, and they have deeply influenced how I approach my work as a model.
Storytelling
How do you use fashion and modelling as a form of self-expression and storytelling?
Fashion and modelling allow me to express emotion, identity, and narrative without words. Every look, pose, and movement tells a story—whether it’s about strength, vulnerability, confidence, or transformation. My goal is to bring these elements to life in an authentic and intentional way.
Expression
Modelling lets me adapt my expression to different concepts while staying true to myself. I use body language, energy, and subtle details to convey the mood of each project, helping the audience connect with the story behind the image.
To me, fashion is a visual language. It reflects personal experiences, sparks creativity, and contributes to a narrative that goes far beyond the clothes themselves.
Ife Idunuayo – Advice
What advice would you give to aspiring models who are just starting their journeys in the fashion industry?
My advice to aspiring models is to be patient with the process and stay committed to personal growth. The fashion industry takes time—consistency, professionalism, and resilience are just as vital as talent. Treat every opportunity as a chance to learn, and focus on building strong relationships with creatives you admire.
Remain true to yourself
It’s essential to remain true to yourself. Trends will come and go, but authenticity and confidence will always stand out. Prioritise self-care, keep developing your skills, and avoid comparing your journey to others.
Most importantly, believe in your own value. Know when to listen, when to learn, and when to advocate for yourself. A strong mindset and self-awareness can carry you as far as any opportunity.
Ife Idunuayo – Balance
How do you balance maintaining your individuality with meeting the expectations of brands and clients?
I view individuality and client expectations as elements that can complement—rather than compete with—each other. My role is to understand the brand’s vision and bring it to life authentically, using my own presence, energy, and interpretation to enrich the concept.
Flexibility
Maintaining individuality starts with knowing who I am and what I uniquely offer. When I’m confident in that, adapting to different projects becomes easier without losing my sense of self. I remain flexible and open to direction, while still allowing subtle personal expression to shine through in my movement and connection with the camera.
Ultimately, achieving balance relies on collaboration and trust. When both the model and creative team are aligned, the outcome feels natural, intentional, and true to both the brand’s identity and my own.
Ife Idunuayo – The Next Chapter
What are your hopes and goals for the next chapter of your modelling career?
In the next chapter of my modelling career, my aim is to keep growing—both creatively and professionally—by pursuing projects that challenge and inspire me. I look forward to collaborating with brands, photographers, and creatives who value storytelling, originality, and a strong visual identity.
Opportunities
I’m also committed to expanding my presence in the industry, seeking new editorial and runway opportunities, and refining my craft with every experience. For me, growth means staying curious, adaptable, and intentional about my path.
Ultimately, I want my work to embody confidence, authenticity, and evolution—building a meaningful career while leaving room for long-term development and creative exploration.
Song
If there were a song written about you, what would it be called and why?
If a song were written about me, it would be called “In Motion.” The title captures my commitment to growth, evolution, and the idea of always moving forward. My journey in fashion and in life has been shaped by learning, adapting, and embracing change—a sense of movement that truly defines me.
The song would embody quiet confidence, resilience, and a growing sense of intention with every step. It wouldn’t be loud or rushed, but purposeful—reflecting the way I approach both my work and personal style.
